Lip Scrub

DIY Lip Scrub

We know that it's important to exfoliate our skin regularly for better makeup application. But did you know exfoliating your lips is just as important. With all the matte and liquid lipsticks out there, removing all the dead skin should be a vital part of your skin care routine. Having dry, chapped lips underneath a matte or liquid lipstick can age them a few years and make for an unappealing look.

I noticed recently that my lips weren't looking at there best. I set out to find a solution for this problem and I came across the perfect Lip Scrub made with ingredients I already had in my house. For super soft, super kissable lips, follow along.

Ingredients:

-3 spoonfulls of olive oil

-4 spoonfulls of sugar

-1 1/2 spoonfuls of Vaseline

-an empty container

(these are the measurements I used, these can be altered to your liking)

Combine these three ingredients together until its completely mixed. It might get messy but cleanup can be done after. Once all is mixed, its time to put this puppy to use.

The secret I have when exfoliating is to use a toothbrush (ya know the toothbrushes you get from the dentist that no one uses).

Gently massage the product into your lips using the toothbrush to scrub the dead skin. When you feel you've removed all the dead skin, take a wet rag and remove the product from your lips. I like to put the Vaseline back on my lips afterwards to help hydrate and soften.

This recipe is 100% customizable! You can replace the olive oil with honey, the sugar with brown sugar, or even add a peppermint or vanilla extract for extra flavor. This should be done a few times a week. Try not to lick your lips, it dries them out quicker. Happy Exfoliating!!!
